Apple also recently revealed a powerful new Mac Studio desktop computer with a $1,600 Studio Display to go along with it, as well as a 5K screen that some reviewers praised as well except for disappointing performance from the integrated webcam.

Input reported Thursday that Apple has some software fix on the way, but it's not clear when it will come.

As reviews from The Verge and The Wall Street Journal have expressed, the compact webcam captures grainy and noise-filled images, with particularly poor performance in low light.

Apple has acknowledged to The Verge that "the system is not working as expected" and that it will make software update improvements, although it is unclear when that will come.

The very disappointing performance of the 12MP webcam may come as a bit of a surprise given how good selfies and FaceTime calls are with iPhones and iPads that have similarly sharp front cameras.

In addition to the webcam, the studio display includes the A13 Bionic chipset, which debuted in the iPhone 11, which essentially powers a simple computer screen with the brains of a smartphone.

Apple no longer immediately responded to a request for comment.
